The Kit for teams

Train on it. Measure a conversion against it.

Halvorsen Mutual is a complete system with its rules written down, a second implementation of those rules, and recorded outputs for every job. Teams use it two ways.

Onboard new mainframe staff

New hires cannot touch production, and a classroom example is too small to teach anything. Give each of them a lab of their own on a system with real batch chains, real screens and the failures that real shops have.

  • A team lead sees each member's missions done and incidents resolved.
  • Night Shift incidents are written as records the lead can read.
  • Learners start in the browser, with nothing to install.

Test a conversion

A conversion tool that passes on a small sample can still change a rounding rule. The Kit gives you the rules to check it against.

  • A rules catalogue, each rule linked to its COBOL paragraph and its oracle function.
  • Oracle runs that rate generated policies both ways and report per-rule agreement.
  • Golden masters for each batch job and each scripted screen, with a diff view.
  • A versioned test pack, reproducible from its seed, with expected results and checksums. You run it against your converted system on your side.

What the Kit does not do

The data is synthetic and the Kit reads our own COBOL against our own oracle. Uploading a vendor's results, reports for several teams at once and a side-by-side run service come later.
